Know the facts about Wolves

  • They are VERY loyal to their pack (family)
  • They are intelligent and social animals
  • They have one mate for life
  • They live together in family groups
  • They love to play, teach and hunt with each other
  • The whole "wolf family" cares for wolf pups from the pack
  • They are cautious of people and try to avoid them in the wild
  • They do not "howl at the moon", they howl anytime of the day
  • They take care of their own sick or wounded pack members
  • They are shy and it is possible to live in the same 50 mile radius and never see one
  • They are dependent upon their family pack. They do not live happily alone
  • They have 5 toes on the front foot and 4 toes on the back foot
  • Their sense of smell is 100 times more sensitive than a human’s
  • They can hear as far as 6 miles away in the forest and ten miles away on the open tundra
  • They can go for two weeks without food and then eat 20 lbs of meat at the first kill
