OUR ADOPTED WOLF, MacKenzie
ProtectWolves.org adopted MacKenzie back in 2003 from the International Wolf Center.

MacKenzie was born on April 28th, 1993. A black color phase wolf, MacKenzie has been the dominant female since
she was a pup and continues to be dominant in retirement.
MacKenzie was born in captivity at Bear Country, USA, near Rapid City, South Dakota. She is a Great Plains wolf (Canis
lupus nubilus). Although there may be some association with a lineage from British Columbia.
MacKenzie along with her sisters and brother (Lucas, Kiana and Lakota) came to the International Wolf Center when they were
only 14 days old. In 1998, Kiana passed away from a metabolic seizure, leaving the 3 remaining packmates on display. They were on display from 1993 until 2002 when they were retired to their own separate enclosure
to live the remaining years of their life in relative quiet off display.
You can learn more about MacKenzie here: IWC, Retired Pack.
